Founder & Artistic Director
Guru Smt. Suhasini Adabala
Born into the vibrant cultural landscape of India, Guru Smt. Suhasini Adabala's journey in the classical arts began with an innate gift for rhythmic expression and melodic grace. Her path is defined by a deep devotion to Kuchipudi and Carnatic music, recognized as integrated disciplines that require both technical mastery and spiritual sincerity. This foundational belief became the cornerstone of her artistic identity.
Guru Suhasini was initiated into Kuchipudi by Guru Dr. Smt. Veena Murthy Vijay. Under this guidance, she mastered not just the technical aspects of this classical form, but also its profound philosophy, the integration of rhythm, narrative, and spiritual expression. She expanded her study to encompass Bharatanatyam. Her Carnatic vocal music training under Vidwan Sri A.V. Venkataramanaiah gives her the rare gift of dual mastery across dance and music.
Throughout her artistic journey, she has continued to deepen her practice through intensive workshops with renowned traditional Kuchipudi gurus including Vedantam Venkatanaga Chalapathi, Pasumarti Rathiah Sarma, Vedantam Radhe Shyam, and Vedantam Ramu. She has also studied contemporary dance with Abhilash Ningappa and yoga with Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, broadening her artistic perspective while remaining rooted in classical tradition.
Her performances are marked by technical precision and emotional depth that captivate audiences. She has graced prestigious festivals across India and the United States, including the Mysore Dussehra Festival and the Hampi Dance Festival, performing in celebrated Kuchipudi productions and collaborating with leading classical artists. For her exceptional artistry, she holds the prestigious title 'Nrutya Koumudhi' Best Classical Dancer award, a recognition of her mastery in emotional expression through abhinaya.
Since founding Kanya School of Arts in 2012 in Colorado, she has brought classical Indian arts to audiences across the United States.
